From the brand

How did we get our start?
In the early 1920’s, Ralph K. Odor started work on a new airplane design. By the 1930’s, his patented Power Vortex design influenced modern aviation. The Vornado Plane derived its name from “Vortex” and “Tornado”, based on its pioneering aerodynamics.
What makes our products unique?
Vornado was founded on the premise that comfort should be constant, bucking the trends of oscillation and utilitarian design. That still holds true today with a broad range of products that enhance efficiency and keep everyone comfortable all year long.

Vornado 683 Pedestal Air Circulator
The Vornado 683 Pedestal Air Circulator takes air comfort to the next level. With its unique signature grill and deep-pitched propeller, the 683 moves air up to 75 feet, while aerodynamically circulating all the air in a room. The 3-speed front-facing control allows for quick and easy speed selection. The 683 features an easy-to-assemble, tool-free base that is designed for quick setup, takedown and storage and can be adjusted 32” – 38” in height.
Simple, convenient controls.
Three quiet speed settings conveniently controlled by a dial on the front of the unit allow you to select your comfort.
Just the right height.
Elevate your comfort with a telescopic base that full adjusts between 32″ – 38″ and allows for an easy, tool-free assembly.
Airflow where you need it.
The pivoting head provides for multi-directional airflow, allowing you to direct the airflow to where you need it most.
Circulate all the air in the room.
A Vornado circulator uses special airflow called Vortex Action to circulate all the air in the room. The air flows fast, cool and constant to create a cooling experience unlike any other.
Perfect combination of style and function.
The matte black finish provides a clean silhouette while serving functional comfort in any living room, office, bedroom, or more.
Superior support.
We expect this product to be perfect. If not, we’ll make it right. That’s our 5-year promise, supported by a team based in Andover, KS.
The Vornado Difference
AirTensity Spiral Grill
The special twist of the AirTensity grill creates a spiral effect that allows the air to travel throughout the whole room.
Enclosed Air Duct
By enclosing the deep pitch blades in a cylindrical duct, air is sculpted into a high-velocity column that powers through hot and cold zones.
Deep Pitch Blades
Heavily contoured blades maximize the amount of air moved with each turn of Vornado’s high-powered motor.
Inlet Air Accelerator
The specially sized inlet directs air to the most effecient parts of the blades to increase airflow.

I will say that the setup was super simple and easy to do, as the stand for the fan just snaps into place, and each of the feet slot into the cutouts on the bottom of the base and the plastic tightening knob secures the plastic feet into place. There is also an adjustment knob on the stand that you can loosen to raise or lower the height of the fan. Even at the max height, it only sits around 3 feet tall, but the fan does tilt up and down to a large variation of angles. Underneath the fan but at the top portion of the stand is where you will find the speed control for the fan itself. It has three modes, with the first being a gentle breeze sensation that is almost completely silent- which is excellent for when I record or stream as it isn't picked up by the microphone at this setting. The medium setting is more like a standard box fan that’s set on high, but the wind feels "softer" if that makes sense while still also making a noticeably lesser amount of noise. On high, I was disappointed as it wasn't much of a boost compared to medium, with the noise increasing a bit more but not much else.
However, this fan, as mentioned previously, is labeled as an "air circulator" and is intended to bring room temps down and not used as a typical fan (although you can still use it that way if you choose). The manual shows adjusting the fan to aim towards the corners of your ceiling/walls and the wind vortex it creates will circulate all the air in the room and bring the entire ambient temperature down. While it did help with the heat in my room, it only managed to help by a couple of degrees. It has allowed me to sleep better at night, but it definitely doesn't "chill" a room as some others have stated.
My main complaint about the fan is that the surface area of the fan is smaller than my other fans, yet has a much higher cost for such a small difference in ambient room temp and comfort. While I do like that I can use it on low for a virtually silent experience, I don't like that it hasn't made as much of a difference in the cooling as I was hoping for. When you factor in cost, it just doesn’t quite live up to what others made it out to be. It still works as a great fan, but the underwhelming value is not worth the experience.
