Vornado air circulators are not like normal fans. If you follow the instructions and aim it at either the ceiling or a corner of your room it really does circulate the air as good as, if not better than, a ceiling fan. I have found that when I use this in the summertime, I can keep my air conditioning set a little higher, and the house is still just as cool. I will always use these in my house to help. Keep things cool.

This is a great fan. I purchased one last year for a bedroom and it is still going strong. It works so well, I purchased a second one for another room.

Just now assembled the fan after 1 month purchase. The fan looked brand new even with the plastic wrap still attached. I am very pleased with the purchase. The fan went together perfectly and it moves a lot of air. The fan sounds bigger than it really is on high speed. It was a returned fan that had a big discount of 20.00 USD. I will purchase again.

Perfect size! Super powerful - really cools off a room whether you position it directly towards you or towards the ceiling. It was easy to assemble, packaged well, light weight, well made and a great value for the money. This model has three speeds. I use the highest and middle speed only. The highest speed is not quiet but not loud - it’s the perfect sound for the sleeper that is calmed to sleep by the sound of a fan or white noise. I would stick to this brand if I need an additional fan in the future - I love it!

This fan is a work horse. It cools a very huge room and the vortex action even cools adjacent rooms. I was initially worried about buying a fan that doesn’t oscillate but the vortex more than makes up for oscillation. I think this makes for a sturdier fan with free moving parts. I have added this to my growing collection of Vornado fans. I’m a fan of these fans!

This fan is like no other! Like many other Americans we had the hottest weather last week in the Midwest. I had been using 3 fans on top of the a/c in my bedroom and was still too warm. Then I saw a new smaller fan that my son had brought home and it was a Vornado. It was fantastic! So I purchased this one which is a floor fan. In this heat wave the Vornado has been a godsend. The fan by itself cools down the entire room whether it’s in the bedroom or living room. It actually gets too cool! It was easy to set up and is steady. I like the way it tilts
but it doesn’t oscillate. I might have forgotten to look for that feature. The only thing I would change is the loudness at full speed. For now the outside temps have decreased and on low speed, it’s much quieter. It has become white noise. I am super happy to have found this fan. I highly recommend it!

I read a few reviews of this fan, where people were complaining that it did not oscillate. It almost turned me off from buying this fan along with the high price tag. However, I read the little blurb about how it’s so powerful, it doesn’t need to oscillate blah blah blah., so I thought I’d give it a shot since I loved my previous Vornado.

I have to say I love this fan. I have one window AC unit to cool my dining room and my living room. On really hot days it’s not quite strong enough to cool it to my liking. (which is Alaska like). I use the Vornado pedestal fan to push the cool air from the dining room into the living room and it works brilliantly! You can literally feel the breeze from this fan all the way across the room at 20 feet away. I worried it was not as powerful as my old fan since it seemed much quieter, but it is definitely more powerful.

I have not tried to clean it yet so we will see it if my review changes after I try. But as of right now, I would highly recommend it even though it is a little pricey. Definitely seems worth it to me.

This fan is amazing, I have 3 of them. I have had 1 for 5 plus years now, and 1 of them for 4 years plus. I just purchased a new one a couple of months ago. I use them 8 hours a day. I never had a problem with any of them. They are a little pricy, but they are well worth it.

I used to buy the $30.00 ones and they would last a summer or two. You get what you pay for when you buy one of these fans.

I need the sound of a fan to sleep so it was a no brainer.

My only negative thing that I could say is that they are loud and powerful if on full blast. If you put them on lower levels you will be fine.

This is it you guys! I’ve had all the different brand of fans but nothing and I do mean nothing compares to this. It has to be this specific one too because I bought the vornado floor fan and it wasn’t as strong. So I’ve had Dreo, Lasko, Honeywell you name it. All of it went back and ended up ordering a SECOND one of these. Buy this and I promise you won’t regret it. Now I’m gonna have to figure out how I’m going to get up in the morning from the deep peaceful sleep that this will give me.

This is my 6th Vornado fan. I absolutely love the quality of these fans and the air they put out. These are not remote controlled but they do have an easy to use knob on the front. It is stable and does not wobble. The noise level is bearable as well. It’s quiet on the lower levels but provides a nice white noise as well as a powerful gust on the highest level. You can use this fan in a number of settings so it is versatile. 8 only wish it could point down further than it goes.

This was purchased for our bedroom which is upstairs. It's positioned in front of a register to help pull the cool air from the A/C and spread it around the room and out to the hall. The upstairs is always warmer and this fan is powerful enough to send the air out the door on the other side of the room to keep the cool air circulating. At night it blows directly over the bed and I have to use a blanket while my husband remains cool enough. I would recommend this fan to help keep your air moving all around .

I also bought the 630 on the same order. I have now thrown out every other fan I own and will never buy another brand. I watched videos of people doing all kinds of scientific analysis and such... and literally this purchase was a coin toss with another brand. Personally, I don't need to try anything else. I live in Miami, FL and I don't have AC in my studio apartment (don't get me started, it's a landlord thing...) I travel for work and I have fans strategically placed so summers are manageable... barely!! I put the 638 together in a snap, the 630 just plugged in right out of the box, and instantly felt a change. I keep them running 24/7 (unless I'm out) and can honestly say that they move the air through my entire apartment. I don't regret all of the money spent on lesser fans that sort of worked, got dirty fast, and were difficult to clean and maintain... I didn't know what I know now. Going forward I know what to buy!

This little fan is worth its weight in gold. It's small enough to be unobtrusive, affordable and cools waaaay better than any other box or pedestal fan I've ever had. Moves cool air from a/c around efficiently so I can set my thermostat lower, saving $$ and is better for the planet.. This is my second one so I now have one in the living room & another in my upstairs bedroom. They work so well that last summer I carried my one up and down the stairs every morning and night. Put it in the corner of a room angled slightly upward & toward the other corner diagonally across the room. Set on medium in a 15 x 25 ft room with 9 ft ceiling and there is a steady, constant, gentle breeze that feels cool. Different from that terrible "now you feel it now you don't" breeze you get from occilating fans where you sweat it out waiting for that brief breeze to come around again. It takes a little trial and error to get it adjusted just right but once you find that sweet spot, it's heavenly. Max height is only about 4 ft which is fine because you angle it upward and don't need to aim it directly toward you. It just creates a breeze throughout the room. A friend runs her table top version without her a/c on and the breeze from the fan somehow feels cool, which is what convinced me to get my first one. I think negative reviews may be from people who direct this like a common pedestal fan rather than the slightly upward and toward the diagonal opposite corner of the room way. The size is unobtusive and it runs quietly enough to not be annoying.. even when sleeping. It seems pretty sturdy and does the job in a unique and immensely better way. I don't know how long they survive but the one I bought last year and ran pretty much 24/7 is still going strong. Even if I only got one season's use out of each of them, they'd still be well worth it. There's a bigger version which might be better for larger spaces and/or high ceilings.

The price drop on Amazon had me replacing my 12-year-old eggshell-colored Vornado, that's dying after summers of enjoyment, with this black model, similar to my original Vornado.
I had to purchase all new fans for my west facing condo in a steel framed building that holds the heat in (or cold in winter).
New England weather lives up to its name for being crazy and this Vornado arrived on a 85 degree day with no breeze. It took all of 5 minutes to assemble and within a minute of putting it on the highest setting, the cooling and air circulation made me feel human again. I even had to put a light blanket on last night as pointed at me from over 20 feet away, it felt like almost like air conditioning.
While the newer stand is a bit cheap-looking, compared to my 12-year-old one that was a round disc, it has the same power.
For reference: I have 2 Lasko pedestal fans that I gave away as they just don't cool on high.
New purchases during May 2020 were the 660 Vornado floor fan, which circulates air beautifully in my 700 sq ft open livingroom/kitchen and cools if pointed at me from across that distance.
This 683 Vornado, which does that same, but love the pedestal height. These two Vornado's in the livingroom are all I need until the AC is on in my building. They will also save money as most days I won't need the electric -powered AC convector on as these are sufficient for cooling.
A Pelonis 16inch oscillating pedestal fan with remote that has no cooling power and can't be felt even 2 ft away (could have been damaged in transit as the box was thin, ripped and taped everywhere (going back when I find a box for it)
and a Pelonis table 12" fan that has a defect in the grill, oscillates, no remote and is somewhat okay in the bedroom, but lacks any real power. It does has some cooling at 5 ft away maximum. Both Pelonis fans were for the 500 sq ft bedroom. Vornado's for the livingroom.
All were purchased through Amazon. I wish I had just bought a third Vornado for the price of the two Pelonis fans as one Vornado has more cooling power and circulation than 3 fans put together.
Will update this review if the new Vornado fans don't last like my old ones. Other than that, if you need real cooling and air, a Vornado is the only fan to purchase (except for those tiny Vornado Flippi's. Bought one last year for my bathroom and was very disappointed as really no cooling or circulation, even up close).
As to noise - Both Vornado fans are almost silent and all but the highest speed. On high, the sound of whooshing air is quite audible, but not unpleasant.
